OCONOMOWOC — Another substantial development has been proposed for Pabst Farms that would include 210 acres of land lying in Summit and the city of Oconomowoc.
The plans for the mixed-use development are being brought forth by Milwaukee- based Cobalt Partners and landowner Pabst Farms Development. Few details have been released for the project, which will be the focus of a public information meeting hosted by the developer from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Summit Elementary School, 1680 Valley Road, Oconomowoc. Residents, business owners, and stakeholders are being encouraged to attend to learn more and share their perspectives, according to a news release.
City and village staff will work with Pabst Farms Development and Cobalt Partners to define the scope of the proposal, conduct technical studies, and schedule opportunities for public input.
In the news release, Summit Village President Jack Riley highlighted how this approach allows both municipalities to work together on one project versus pursuing fragmented projects.
“Although we are in the very preliminary stages of discussion, the village and city have an opportunity to work together to review a comprehensive proposal for development on the remaining lands within Pabst Farms as opposed to considering disconnected efforts that could result in projects that may not complement each other or our respective communities,” Riley said.
The early plans for the project call for it to be constructed on either side of Interstate 94 and bordered by Delafield Road, Sawyer Road and Pabst Farms Boulevard. The already approved Costco would be included in the boundaries.
“We are pleased to see the thoughtful planning for a collaborative mixed-use development to complete the eastern half of the Pabst Farms development,” Oconomowoc Mayor Robert Magnus said in the statement.
A lot of work still needs to be done on the proposal, including land use mix and densities, traffic impacts, environmental reviews, financing, phasing, and public input.
“We see this project as an opportunity to reinforce the live work play promise of Pabst Farms while respecting the character of both communities. Our team looks forward to working with Oconomowoc and Summit leaders to create a thoughtful master plan that invites input from residents at every step,” said Brian Bell, representing Pabst Farms Development.
Scott Yauck, founder/CEO of Cobalt Partners, said as a company it believes in creating projects that add value to communities. Its portfolio of projects include retail, residential, office, medical, hospitality, industrial and sports.
“With Pabst Farms, we see a chance to collaborate with municipal leaders and neighbors to shape a mixed-use district that blends rural character with modern vitality and creates a place where families, businesses and nature grow together. We are excited to start that conversation,” he said.
A mixed-use development covering 210 acres of land lying in Summit and the city of Oconomowoc in the Pabst Farms area has been proposed.
