A former Mequon water park is being sold to a local firm that plans to redevelop the property.
Cobalt Partners plans to buy the Hy & Richard Smith JCC Water Park from the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.
The 6.5-acre water park, 11015 N. Market St., closed after the 2024 season because of financial constraints.
The purchase is to close by early June.
“Cobalt Partners has a reputation for working productively with municipalities and delivering positive outcomes, even when projects involve executional complexities,” said Mark Shapiro, Jewish Community Center president and CEO.
The water park operated with a six-figure deficit, according to the JCC. A lifeguard shortage and the COVID-19 pandemic's long-term economic impacts were factors in its financial problems.
